Around 1976 there were about 21,000 operational nuclear weapons around the world. Divided amongst six countries, almost 95% of the world’s nuclear weapons were in the possession of the United States and Russia. Nuclear weapons are very powerful and dangerous but most countries want to possess for their forces. However it is, debatable if having nuclear weapons is beneficial or not. Having nuclear weapons on one hand protects a country but on the other hand it involves lots of worries and huge expenses. There are numbers of disadvantages to having nuclear weapons.
In addition, the process of making nuclear weapons costs a lot. The materials are not cheap and most salaries for the scientists are expensive. If the nuclear weapon explodes by ¨accident¨ it can bring horrible consequences. Even a small amount of nuclear material can cause huge impact. Scientists and researchers have known for a quite long time about the serious problems that nuclear power represent.
The worst thing that could happen would probably be a release of fission products from the steam. You would basically have the fission products from the fuel. The fuel has melted, and then you’ve released the fission products, and perhaps you get some sort of steam that carries some fission products out of the plant, which would then get exposed to people. But it wouldn’t be the explosion itself, or any explosion that would cause the problem. On the other hand, there are some benefits to having nuclear weapons. One benefit is that nuclear weapons can be a way of protecting one’s country.
